ABOUT

Moksha Kusa Marquardt (his birth name) is a self-taught master painter and multi-faceted artist from Washington State. His early work was heavily inspired by the dark artistry of Polish surrealists like Zdzislaw Beksinski and Jacek Yerka.

Moksha's artistic style blends intricate details with a loose painterly approach, creating pieces that are alive with movement and vibrant color. His paintings serve as a reflection of his emotional relationship with nature—capturing what is felt rather than simply what is seen. Undoubtedly growing up in the PNW has had the deepest influence on him, as is evident in the way he depicts nature in his work

Moksha's art resonates particularly with viewers familiar with psychedelics and plant medicines. His work acts as a conduit, inviting viewers to peak behind the curtain and into the vast and mysterious web of life and death.

Driven by a genuine passion for his craft, Moksha made the transition from a career of nearly 20 years as a designer and background artist in the computer game industry to becoming a full-time fine artist over a decade ago. He continues to explore and refine his artistic expression.

In 2020, during the lockdown, he first started to build and paint drums and rattles as well as make traditional malas.

In 2021 Moksha moved to Portland, OR and joined The Haven, a thriving art collective, makers space, healing arts community and circus school!
